However, if an object can increase its mass having undergone a velocity change,
then the mass of various atoms of the same isotope would also vary.

But I know of no experiment which shows that (for eg) if a proton were accelerated then stopped, that its mass would change
in the way Feynman suggests.

So while the kinetic energy in the proton may be converted into mass on collision, (atomically)
it is not converted into mass purely as a result of its velocity change.

seems obvious from burning a match.

But the conclusion that the Higgs Boson forms due to added
mass via relativity means that the Higgs Boson should be able

Forum Physicist:

The energy released by a burning match is entirely chemical energy.  No mass is lost.

Lavoisier determined this experimentally a few centuries ago.

Well, I think that colliding particles in Cern is the only way we think we may have produced them. This does not to me say a lot in how they may create fields that give mass to other particles. They are even when created, (if they really exist) very unstable, maybe closer to a virtual particle. There is a lot unknown about this yet, I do think.

Hmm.

But do you see my point?

If the Higgs Boson is formed by added mass due to an increase in velocity,
then
it should be able to form without a collision.

At what point does the proton suddenly become something other than a proton?

Only at the collision and not due to its mere velocity increase! affraid
